A Bus Ride with Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks
This one-woman show is appropriate for K-Adult. Mrs. Parks describes what it was like growing up in the segregated south as a little girl. She takes the audience back in time to the 1950's and describes how blacks were treated as second-class citizens due to the segregation laws. Mrs. Parks refused to move to the back of a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. She was not attempting to start a movement. She was simply tired of the social injustice and she did not think it was right for a woman to give up her seat for a man. Her quiet strength and simple act changed the course of history. This program is 45 minutes including question and answer session.
